I have watched many videos of this process working for others with no issue and have been trying to figure out why it is not working for me. So it looks like it should be working but the display keeps turning off and I can't figure out why. When I take out the cable and the display comes back on, I see a message on the screen saying "headphones disconnected". I am using the mini usb to red/white cable that came with my camera and the Headphone Mon option is turned ON but when I plug in the cable, the camera's display turns off immediately. Without ML installed, the display screen turns off immediately. It allows the display screen to stay on after a cable is plugged into the mini usb port. ML is the only way to make this happen to my knowledge. I am using a Canon T3i Rebel and have installed Magic Lantern to be able to listen to the audio through a pair of headphones (earbuds) when recording video.
